Development and Implementation of a Hands-on Surgical Pipeline Program for Low-Income High School Students

For the last 3 summers, Stanford Medicine has partnered with SMASH Stanford to deliver a hands-on surgical pipeline program focused on getting more underrepresented and low-income students of color interested in pursuing medicine. Recognizing the need to not only expose students to the field, but also address the socio-emotional and institutional barriers students of color face, this Stanford Research team chose to work with SMASH Stanford given our tremendous track record addressing these the barriers.
