How to volunteer with LPFI and our SMASH program: 

1. Read description of current opportunities here
2. Fill out the Volunteer Interest Form here
3. Based on your Volunteer Interest Form, the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Community engagement will
   • Arrange a staff member to call you if it is your first time volunteering with LPFI
   • Send a background check form for you to fill out if appropriate
   • Add you to the SMASH volunteer list-serve– you will receive emails about our current volunteering opportunities & a link to sign up for specific opportunities on VolunteerSignUp.org

LPFI Volunteer Backgound Check Policy

LPFI has the privilege to work with students and we must take care to protect their safety.

To volunteer with LPFI, all recurring volunteers (those who volunteer more than once) under staff supervision will need to complete a background check form. If volunteering under unsupervised conditions, a LiveScan will be required. The only exception are volunteers who are parents of SMASH scholars -they will only need to complete a background check form if overnight volunteering under staff supervision or serving as a Parent Representative.
